Wasn't there also a band called "Entwined" a few years back? For some reason I recall something similarly done by another band, with or without the "D" but whoever they are, this is a terrific sounding record. The Finnish-based Entwine, following in the progressive footsteps of the many who've preceded them have come forth with a resounding record of pure platinum Gothic principles and powerful rhythms, swirling nocturne with lust in a red-rose landscape sure to warm even the hardest of hearts. Has it been done before-well I can think of about at least twenty bands who've been admonished for leaving their roots for the softer side of the emotional gap, and same can be said here. Advancing from darker roots, Entwine, through several line-up changes and restructuring seemed to have settled in here, the difference perhaps from the others is that they're not suffering still from an identity crisis. You wont listen to this record and hear Death grunts housed in symphonic textures and pretty female chanting in one breath, or industrialized blast-beats and loops in another-it's straight-forward and pure, from the upright and captivating "Losing The Ground" opener, to the catchier "Snow White Suicide" to the romantically-inclined "Closer (My Love)," and the many comprising the eight overall that capture the chill, including "New Dawn," first single, and one of the top two or three album highlights along with "Silence Is Killing Me" and seven minute closer "Blood Of Your Soul." Intensity of emotion and inner beauty "entwines" itself around the heart of the matter without yielding to impending darkness or doom and every song, distinguishable without the usual run-off and glut of continuity that soaks you up in a sea of dread. Rhythmically, you'll hear a great deal of Sentenced and Nightwish while the surrounding aura is "One Second" of Paradise Lost. This CD is released
