Elvenking are an Italian band that is playing Medieval Folk Metal. In other words it's a blend of Power Metal, Folk Music and Progressive Rock. I can't say that they are that unique though, because if you take away some folk melodies here and there the main part of the album is still a mix between Edguy, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Helloween and Rhapsody.

"Heathenreel" is Elvenking's debut album, and even though some of the songs are not that strong, they're still a very competent and promising band with a big potential for the future. If all the songs were as good as the best ones this would have been one of the best albums in this genre.
