Ah the pretty sounds of "The Healing Vision" signal the start of what could well be one your pleasantest of dreams… search hard enough, and you shall find your salvation-so reads the "scripture" as introduced by Edguy's talented lead vocalist and "songsmith" Tobias Sammet. Fixated on the "search" as it seems, one that we must long for and arrive at in the here and now, "Theater of Salvation" beckons for listeners to look into themselves and their own desires to find peace and happiness… from then on, whatever happens, happens… destiny shall arrive in one form or another. Edguy is probably not quite what you'd call metal "veterans" at this point in their career though they have had a past. Continuing on in the lately oft-explored tradition many of the new symphonic and melodically-oriented power acts, Edguy's latest merges classic Helloween and Stratovarius with newer arrivals like Rhapsody on emotionally spilling movements as "Babylon," "The Headless Game" and "Land of the Miracle." Disappointing in that we don't get to see the words as we go along here, though that's not to suggest indecipherability within the singing, though it is often overshadowed by some overzealous musicianship… and considering where they've come from, could we expect anything less? Naturally strong on the backup for added emphasis, each song is an imaginative journey toward introspection-classically portrayed, a majestic eagle soaring ever higher, culminating exquisitely with the twelve plus minute title track before the curtain comes down. "Theater of Salvation" accomplishes all it sets out to do-a spirit lifting magnificence that while most of it has been heard before under the watchful tutelage of a timeless sky, somehow it never seems to get old… Released by Metal Blade Records
