Alien Christ (5:09) Some of you might remember an album by David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Brian Eno entitled 'My Life In The Bush of Ghosts', for me 'A Classic' and Darkstar's 'Marching Into Oblivion' is in a similar vein. Darkstar have created an album full of hypnotic rhythms entwined with some superb sampling. The music on 'Marching Into Oblivion' is a lot heavier than on 'My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts'. with lots of powerful heavy guitar riffs. The quality & musicianship is superb with some outstanding guitar rhythms and stunning guitar solo's from Dan. Siggi is equally as exciting on the keyboards adding a lot of depth to the tracks. Siggi also took care of all the sampling which I must say is superb. Some of the tracks that stand out are the opening and title track 'Marching Into Oblivion' which starts with an intro that easliy could be part of a soundtrack to a movie, before a heavy bas guitar comes in followed quickly by a heavy guitar riff. This track features quite a bit of sampling and for me gives the track more feeling and depth. The guitar work is excellent. The track 'Darkstar', has a nice keyboard intro followed by some great piano. This track has a great melody and some superb guitar. 'Gateway' is a multi-layered keyboard track with some superb sampling. Great melody and the keyboards are superb. Overall, a stunning album and one I highly recommend to Progmetal fans and lovers of good music. Released on Institude Of Art Records. Leonhardstrasse 21-23.
