Crack The Sky have been together since 1975 and has released 11 albums. John Palumbo and Rick Witkowski are the founding members. John Tracy and Carey Ziegler joined the band in 1980. Bobby Hird came aboard in 1982. With the addition of Nat Kerr on keyboards in 1985 the band was complete.

On April 15th 1998 Crack the Sky released it's 11th abum entitled "Cut". And much like the guitar orientated sound of Crack The Sky in the 70's "Cut" goes back to capture it's aggressive progressive roots.

The first track is 'Why Me?', an excellent track, great drums and bass with a funky kind of rhythm. The vocals are quite soft until the chorus comes in. Great guitar solo. I would imagine that this track would be even better when played live, one to really get the crowd going.

Next is the title track 'Cut', a slower track with a cutting edge riff, great vocals and excellent guitar solo.

The third track is 'Oh Madonna', which has a great riff, another song to get th crowd going, great vocals, the chorus reminds me a little of 10CC and towards the end the whole thing picks up pace and once again there is a great guitar solo.

The next track 'God' is very much in a similar vein to John Lennon's music. Nice track, very mellow.

'Eye To Eye', another great track with a great guitar solo.

The sixth track is 'The Art Of Wondering', this track is more blues based with some excellent guitar, this is followed by a heavy riff and then goes into a more laid back blues song. middle section picks up the pace with some stunning guitar work.

The next track 'We Want Mine (still)' has a heavy guitar riff, great vocals, the vocals again are more in a John Lennon kind of mood. There are some nice changes in direction and tempo and another great guitar solo.

'Hey Earl', has a funky bass line with rap style vocals.

The ninth track is 'I'm Gonna Kill Myself', I am sure some of you will remember Marc Bolan & T.Rex, well on listening to this track, thats the first person I was reminded off as the guiatr sound is very similar to 'Get It On'. But nevertheless this still is a fine track, some of the guitar work sounds very Pink Floydish.

The final track is 'Little Stinky', a short bar blues track and just right to finish the album.

Excellent album!!! Highly Recommended!!!
Released on Steplord Wives Records.
