"Perfect Tears" Color Theory |
|
If ever there was a recording that could all at once lift your spirits when you're feeling down and catapult you to another level of existence, Color Theory's "Perfect Tears" will do just that. Created by Brian Hazard, a gifted omni-presence who suits the roles of lyricist, pianist and vocalist, the music's free-flowing nature saunters gracefully through your mind, caressing your soul, while gently easing away the tension that overactive mainstream media has worked so prudently to trouble us with. "Perfect Tears" is an advanced composition, progressively mature, atmospheric and adventurous, yet down to earth and wistfully moving. Basically divided among twelve tracks, the songs come forth from a personally conscientious angle, sincere and wholly meaningful with every note played. From the opening moments of "Stare out the Window" and the search for something more in this great wide world of ours, Hazard's soft yet beckoning vocals are a standout amidst the stoic piano and programming sequences that serve as an effective backdrop for the wide range of emotions presented here. For the listener, that something more that's sought after is quickly found in the form of "April's Bonfire" with its electronically stimulating new wave and dance beats, the subtle sadness of "Long Distance Martyr" and the unsettled question of what makes us who we are in "Ordinary and Free" and "Faces." Color Theory is an impressive display of musical grandeur that falls somewhere between the thought patterns of renowned artist/composer Tori Amos, and the addictive turbo-charged techno layouts of Enigma. "Perfect Tears" is a well-rounded, brightly-colored phenomena. a masterful performance that possesses a modern maturity that's well ahead of its time.
