Frank Was A Pimp Coinmonster are a metal band from New Castle, PA with a unique style in their approach to their music, you could say that Coinmonster are a hard band to describe as their music is heavy, but at times is progressive, funky, jazz orientated. They use strange time changes, wierd chords, but when it's all put together you have a very tight, incredible, unique sound. When I first received Coinmonster's album "Universal Solvent" and looked at the cover , a picture of a few ducks, I knew that this was going to be a strange album, but nevertheless it is a very good one too. The first thing you notice as soon as you listen to the first track is that this has been produced to the finest degree. This incredible wall of sound just hits you in the face, whilst the music constantly changes direction, and tempo. My favourite tracks are 'Double Fisting Water', 'Jerry's Just Ahead', 'God's Gift to Sliced Bread', 'Progress of My Project' and I could go on, because they are all excellent. The drum sound is just incredible, and with John's superb bass playing they combine to make a very powerful rhythm section. But for me JonJon's guitar work is just outstanding. Influences must be in the form of Korn, Primus, Corrosion of Conformity, Helmet, Rush, King Crimson and Frank Zappa to name a few. This album is for lovers of extreme music and one I would thoroughly recommend to all metal fans. Website : http://members.aol.com/jonr367041/coin.htm
