Pulse
ANTHROPHOBIA

Anthrobia are : Frank Phobia on Throat and Noises, Mike Phobia on Guitars and Textures, Hans Phobia on Guitar, Joe Phobia on Drums and Todd Phobia on Bass.

Special guests are : D'arey October, additional vocals on track 10, Jeff Davis, additional vocals on track 3 and DJ cuts on track 8,and Tom Volpicelli, additional guitar on track 12.

The tracks are : 'Patient?', 'Perfection', 'Vanishing', 'Burn Down', 'Loophole', 'Enough, Already', 'Loose Grip', 'What Should Have Been Mine', 'Mood Ring', 'The Whole Nine Yards', 'Stuck In Reverse', 'Disturbed'.

Anthrophobia come over as being a kind of Hard Rock/Crossover band. There are a few good tracks on this CD, but I feel Anthrophobia are in need of some help finding their own identity. I can hear too many different influences within their music ranging from Korn, Sepultura and Marilyn Manson to name a few.

They are obviously well accomplished musicians and I think they decide which direction they want their music to go. At present there's too much of a mixture between Hard Rock and Crossover and they need to choose. Do they want to be a Hard Rock band or a Crossover band ?.

Then sit down and concentrate on writing songs that fit the bill.

Boys Life
BOYS LIFE

Boys Life are Joe Winkle, Brandon Butler, John Reuba and John Anderson. The album was recorded and Mixed at Big Fish with Mark Trombino.

Tracks are :'Golf Hill drive', 'Tucked in', 'A Quaters Worth', 'Without Doubt', 'Lister', 'Breaker Breaker', 'Cloudy And 47', 'Temporary' and 'Clay Hill'

This album was released in the States in1995, but has only just been released here in the UK. You can tell from the opening track ' Golf Hill drive ' with it's quiet start then with its crashing guitars building up to it's climax that this is going to be one hell of an album. Boy's Life remind you slightly of Nirvana, The Foo Fighters and Fireside, but still have enough of their own originality to keep the listener hooked.

Boys Life play with the authority you would expect from a well accomplished band, not their debut album. One wonders if they can sustain the originality and momentum of this first album and whether they can improve on it. We will just have to wait and see.

The King Biscuit Flower Hour - Iggy Pop was recorded on the 19th July 1988 at the Channel in Boston, Mass.
It features Iggy Pop on Vocals and Guitar, Andy Mccoy on Lead Guitar, Paul Garristo on Drums, Alvin Gibbs on Bass and Seamus Beaghen on Keyboards.

The Tracks are : 'Instinct', 'Kill City', 'Nineteen Sixty Nine,' ,Penetration', 'Power And Freedom', 'High On You', 'Five Foot One', 'Johanna', 'Easy Rider', 'Tuff Baby', 'I Feel Alright', 'Winners And Losers / Scene Of The Crime', 'Search And Destroy', 'Cold Metal', 'Squarehead', 'No Fun'

Iggy Pop was always proclaimed as 'The Godfather Of Punk', he pioneered in the 60's what was to burgeon in the 70's. Psychotic gravel voxed contortionist whose early stage shows saw him slash his chest with a razor. He finally recovered in the mid -80's from drug addiction.

Iggy Pop covered a range of music from Heavy Metal to Thrash to Grunge. This CD recorded on the 19th July 1988 shows Iggy's set that rocks from start to finish.

It has the Raw Power feel with early tracks such as 'Penetration', 'Search And Destroy'. These tracks were Iggy Pop's & The Stooges classic's and still sound fresh today. There are other great songs on this CD too Such as 'Instinct', 'Kill City' and 'Johanna'.

Overall this is a great CD and a must for Iggy Pop fans. Iggy's performance is just outstanding.

'The Fourth Judgement' is a mix of Power Metal with Black Metal Influences. Vocals are similar to Bruce Dickinson in places and the music is in a similar vein to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, etc. A very good album, I liked all of the tracks. A pure Heavy Metal album with no keyboards. Check it out if your a traditional heavy metal fan.

King Biscuit Flower Hour
MOTORHEAD

Motorhead are Lemmy Kilminster on Bass and Vocals, Brian Robertson (ex Thin lizzy,Wild Horses ) on Guitars and Phil (philthy Animal ) Taylor on Drums.

The Tracks are :'Back at the funny Farm', 'Tales Of Glory', 'Marching off To War', 'Iron Horse/Born To lose', 'Another Perfect Day', 'Shine', 'I Got Mine', and an interview with Lemmy.

This CD was recorded live at L'Amout East, NY on August 10th 1983. (yes, this really is nearly 19 years old).
Bearing in mind that these tracks come from a Radio Broadcast (although they have been remastered) the recording quality is still very good. This CD shows Motorhead at what they do best Playing Loud, Raw and Fast Heavy metal.

Highlights of this 7 track CD are undoubtedly 'Tales Of Glory', 'Marching Off To War' and the excellent 'Shine'. There is also a bonus track of an interview with Lemmy, Love him or Hate him, you can't Ignore him.

Unfortunately though I don't think this CD will attract any new fans.
So this CD really is for die hard fans and collectors only.

XIII
TENEBRE

Tenebre are Richard Lion on Bass, Fredrik Tack on guitar, Joel Linder on Drums, Kalle Metz on Vocals and Lakas Sunesson on Guitar.

Tenebre, a Swedish Death Metal band originally known as Flegma released their debut album earlier this year entitled ' XIII'.

The CD starts off with a good heavy track entitled ' XIII',their are some nice mood changes and some excellent lead guitar.

The second track simply called 'I ' has an unusual riff but good nevertheless, again great lead.

Next ' Take My Sin ', heavy riff with a quieter passage towards the end before coming in heavy again.

Track four ' A Cross On The Door' lacks the quality of the earlier tracks but still has a very good lead guitar passage.

The fifth track entitled 'The Rites Of Passage II' is a slower track with some heavier passages in-between.

The sixth track called ' Tenebre 'originally entitled ' Suite Gothique (part IV, Toccata)' is played on a church organ, recorded under full moon in Lund Cathedral.

'Dead But Dreaming'
is a good heavy track with a little saxophone on it.

'Moth To A Flame '
  features some great lead guitar.

Track 9 ' No Wrong ' was released on the Cultleader E.P and is slightly more commercial than the rest of the album.

'Thunnida'
another track that has been recorded on the church organ in Lund Cathedral.

Next is a track entitled 'The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward ' a good heavy track with a good riff.

' Buried And Forgotten ' a slower track reminiscent of the Sisters Of Mercy and the last track.

'March Of The Dying Angel'
is an instrumental with just keyboards and drums.

Overall I think this is a good a debut album from Tenebre, there are some very good tracks with some excellent lead guitar passages.
