World of Pain

Bonecrusher

If it was possible to bottle up anger and sell it on the open market, here's a band that would make an absolute fortune!

Just listening to the first song "Crime Wave" from their latest "World of Pain,"-a real mental flogging above or beyond the end of the week migraine-all I wanted to do was run to the medicine cabinet!

But I stuck it out and luckily, managed to turn onto some pretty wild stuff here.

Bonecrusher's got a style that's expectedly synonymous with their name and rather unique compared to the many who've been there before-they hit hard, but not always as often as one might think.

They're pretty rough in their delivery feeding chunks and chunks of solid groove with a garage rock etiquette!

"Poverty" begins to pick it up, and it's here where we might draw a Misfits comparison-not only does the song have the similar structure as "Skulls," but the backing rhythm is pure "Walk Among Us/Legacy." with spit polished vocals that could only be understood by fellow choking victims.

I'm thinking along the lines of early Motorhead but with clearly more of a backing presence through the choruses-which tend to get downright nasty-"Porn Star," "Fire."

Of all times to open the insert and find no gratuitous song lyrics. well at least you can hum along!

"World of Pain" is actually a reissue with a number of tracks originally done back in '94, and this was remastered?

The original must have had some load to carry!

The pain's quick to rise to the surface with this new disc. thunderously loud, vehemently argumentative and an altogether vicious hit to the gut that you, upon regaining your senses, will want to file away in an enclosed space all by itself!
