As of March 1999, Bliss have officially changed their name to Bliss (This).

Bliss (This) was formed in early 1997 for one reason and one reason only - to record the ultimate rock CD.

Multi-instrumentalist/composer Michael Trapp and vocalist extraordannaire Matt Wells have been kicking around the music scene for years. For eight months this past year they holed up in the studio working on their creation, "Chasin' The Mad Rabbit." Influences as diverse as Sabbath, Nin, Zep, The Beatles, Yes, CSN, Beethoven, Cheap Trick and Nirvana were brought together to create an original blend of diverse music. Heavy guitar driven power pop tunes sit comfortably next to synth driven ballads and over the top screamers.

Mike explains, "What has been seriously lacking in the music of the 90's is the range and diversity of albums by bands such as The Beatles and Zeppelin. I can't and won't write the same song 14 times and have that be a CD. There is an amazing range of emotion on this disc." Fans of serious vocal and guitar chops will not be disappointed, but in the end - the song is everything.

Here we have a rock album that has plenty of variety and different styles. The songs are well constructed with a slight progressive element within some of the tracks. the thing that impressed me most is Matt's vocals. Matt has the ability to change his vovcals delivery to cope with the different style's of track's with ease.

All the instruments are played by Michael and I can tell you, that he does an outstanding job. Some of the guitar work is simply breathtaking.

To be honest, on listening to this album quite a few times now, I can tell you, there isn't a bad track on it. But I would like to say that there are a few tracks that for me stand above the rest and the titles are 'Wrecked', 'Too Shy', 'Little Bitches', 'Something Broken', 'Blissed Out' and 'Rejoice'.

Overall, 'Chasing The Mad Rabbit', is a very competent debut album from Bliss and I am looking forward to hearing more of them in the not to distant future.

Released by J-Bird Records.
