I Should Have Known (2:44) 13. Bad Attitude (5:34) Now hang on a moment, bad boys pissing up against a road sign. Come on, how old are you. Well, quite frankly if the photo on the sleeve is anything to go by, lets face it, the last time I saw so much grey hair in one place, it was on the back of a badger. But this doesn't matter because slip in Bad Attitude into your CD player and what you have is 13 tracks of back to basic foot-tapping singalong blues based metal with just a hint of RnB thrown in for good measure. Bad Attitude sets the stall out with the very first track "Mexico". Zeppelin inspired foot-tapping rhythms, sinalong chorus. Bad Attitude know what they like and how to plat it. Sod fashion and trends, these guys know how to have a good time and good luck to them. The band sail through the rest of the tracks in such a manner that you get the impression that these guys have been around for years. Each track fits perfectly with the rest, the musicianship is first call with special mention to Jim Foster's guitar work and Steve White's vocals, both perfect for this style of music. Stand out tracks for me have to be the already mentiones "Mexico", "The Escape", Bashing Voices", the outstanding blues track "I Should Have Known" and the self titles track "Bad Attitude" all give the instant impression of those long hot summer days to come. A special mention should be given to "In Retro" coming in at 8:25 mins. This is one of the best blues rock ballads that I have heard in a long time worth the purchase price alone. All in all, this is a first class CD, the only question mark being "Baby Elephants", now it might be my old age, but to me this sounds like The Smiths, thats right The Smiths. Play metal and to my ears, it doesn't quite work. But , so what, it's only the second track on the album and by the time the last few bars of "Bad Attitude" have faded into the distance , you've forgotten about it anyway. This is a must for old and yound alike. For us older than thirty, this is a fine reminder of how metal was once played and some say should still be played and for the younger ones out there who think a Zeppelin was just a giant balloon or a Whitesnake is something you would find in a zoo. Either way, an essential purchase. If you only ever buy one blues rock album this year make sure it's Bad Attitude. There's no finer example out there today.
