Acrophobe

Bad Astronaut

A ten song EP… when you think about it, it makes sense eh?

Ten songs, extended play and all that.

Well the very nature of the band lies in the name-yep, you guessed it, uplifting high-energy Rock to tilt the stratosphere and test your outer limits… well "test" may not be the key word here, this is very listener friendly on all counts.

Formed more or less from the remains of Californian Punk staple Lagwagon, the sound's obviously been heightened more to explore new instrumentations and maximize the broadloom of audio effervescence… and that they do, quite well.

Somewhat turbulent at times, mainly around the edges, the tunes offer lengthy arrangements and structural stretching in the midsections, strewn upon catchy pick-up choruses and emotional acoustic wisdom.

Dare I say a more mature outlook that recalls the post-modern types of the past without getting too dizzy-brings to mind the more fashion-conscious fuzz-rock and softly sober leanings of the boy they named "Goo" and other such types who've only rendered radio hits in recent times because of a long forgotten past-best tunes are "Greg's Estate," "Grey Suits," all 500 milliseconds of "500 Miles" and the crash 'n bang cover of Elliott Smith's "Needle in the Hay."
