I'm sure your all aware of the saying "ever been had".
In truth it nearly happened to me, but in this case I really had been
had if you get my drift.
You see on first impressions 'The Dynamic Gallery Of Thoughts'
with it's excellent artwork and lyric booklet you would think that
this Finish band And Oceans had a tendency towards progressive
metal and therefore 'The Dynamic Gallery Of Thoughts' would
be a progressive metal album.
Well, How wrong I was. In truth this album does have a continental
feel about it mainly down to the keyboards and programming style.
But this is primarily a deathmetal/black metal album with Jean Michel
Jarre keyboards thrown in and the effect is outstanding.
The best examples of this is 'Mikrobotik Fields', but lets
not distract from it's main theme as this is a very heavy mean MotherF***er
of an album, full of excellent guitar work, outstanding rhythms and
vocals, straight from Hell.
The only problem, I came across doing the review was the lyric booklet,
although superbly presented, wonderful artwork, but some of the lyric's
are in Finish, Swedish, French besides English and as I can only speak
and read english it difficut to say what the lyrics are about. (maybe
if the band are going to sell this album in the UK, US you could translate
, so we know what you are singing about)
Not that this distracts from the music. I don't care what language
the band are singing in as long as it sounds good. I think that
And Oceans have a very bright future ahead of them if they can
carry on producing albums of this quality.
