"Linguistically, the name Alastis is a derivation of Alastor, the executioner of hell. In reference to the band Alastis, however, the name is actually possessor of some amazingly dark music far more complex than any preconceived visions of an average, late-coming black metal act" (quote from the sleeve).
I couldn't have said it better myself.

The first track 'Juste Hate' is a moody, atmospheric and loud track that has a very gothic feel to it. There is an excellent riff that accompanies the chorus.

The next track is 'Burnt Alive', this is a slow and encapsulating affair that screams for it's listeners to press the repeat button on their CD players. Excellent keyboards and guitar work. One of the best tracks on the album.

The third track is 'Eternal Cycle', dark, triumphant, victorious sounding track. Some excellent synthesiser ans guitar talents are shown in this. This is brilliant, but you could say, is an acquired taste.

The next track is 'Sacrifice', has a haunting intro, so haunting infact if you were on your own, you could become paranoid. Not one for someone who frightens easily.

'Ecstacy', not as scary or intimidating as some of the other tracks.

The sixth track is 'Like A Dream', calm, settling guitar intro that leads you to believe that this is going to be a very pleasant melodic number. It isn't, it just gets louder and brasher and definately worth a listen.

The next track is 'Nemesis', angelic chior accompanied by hammer strikes on a rather large anvil, which makes up an inspiring backing to a totally brilliant track.

'Bring Down', this is a track that you need to play very loud to get the best out of it. Slow hard drivin' rhythm. Mid-track is slightly mellower, before returning to the heavy riffs and backing keyboards.

The ninth track is 'Agony' this is an evil sounding track . Fast gripping rhythm that holds your attention and keeps wnting for more. This 4 minute epic will knock the socks off anyone.

The final track is 'Revenge', which happens to be the title track. Hard & heavy riffs starting off slow and gradually increases with speed and loudness. Some nice keyboards in the background and excellent guitar work.

All in all, this is a very good album. A mixture of black metal with a slight mystique.
